Black Actors & Film Guild Ottawa Director Celebrate Empathy Director, Austin Odigie’s Birthday

Canadian filmmaker Austin Odigie celebrated his birthday in his Ottawa home with industry personalities on ground on Friday August 21, 2020. The Empathy director most definitely thrilled by love received from friends, family and colleagues as he share August 21st birthday with his first Son Jaden. Yes, not everyday father and Son share same birthday mingling with friends at an exclusive party to make it worthwhile.




The President of Broadlens Media Associates was seen embracing, hugging and interacting with the industry players who seize the moment to talk about what movie industry folks do when occasion connects them. “Empathy” was released on his birthday with crew members impressed not only with the project but drunk with celebrating the man behind the mask.

Empathy is a film of love, acceptance, compassion and love. With worlds apart, Fari (Idylia Hachi) set out on a journey to meet her foster family Samantha (Eleonora Poutilova), Lisa (Monica Ethier) and mama (Katherine Stella Duncan) for the first time in her life. Despite the racial divide, love was bound to conquer.






Austin is a Director of the Black Actor Guild of Canada (BAG -Canada). He is also the head of the Black Actors & Film Guild in Canada’s national capital, Ottawa.


Isioro Tokunbo Jaboro fondly called TJ is the Founder of the Black Actors Guild Canada –(BAG-Canada) & Black Film Guild Canada which falls under the umbrella of the Black Actors & Film Guild Canada. He is the Artistic Executive Director and Founder of the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF), and an award-winning movie Producer & Director


Thrilled by the works of Austin, TJ who is also the founder of the International Black & Diversity Film Festival-(IBDFF) scheduled for 2021 was quick to celebrate “Empathy” and announced its release to BAG members across the country.

The Black Actors & Film Guild Canada is pleased to celebrate the outstanding work Produced and Directed by one of our members Director.Austin Odigie. Austin is an administrator and a Director of the Guild; he is the head of the Black Actors & Film Guild Ottawa and we are very pleased to share his work with members.

Austin and the Ottawa Branch will be working on projects to help promote the Black Actors and Filmmakers over there in Ottawa. Congratulations and please let us go watch this masterpiece which I have had the privilege to watch.

We will be discussing with Austin to have a Zoom review meeting where he will tell us about the film, the process of making this film, and the challenges he might have faced during making this film. This will be beneficial to all members. Congrats again Austin

The award-winning filmmaker Austin Odigie appeared to be on top of the world releasing his film on his birthday alongside his Son’s birthday, as he told his industry folks under the moonlight that the big one is coming.
